The present invention relates to the use of a compound or a mixture consisting of two or more compounds or containing one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of compounds of Formulae (I) and (ent-I) ##STR00001## wherein in Formulae (I) and (ent-I) the following applies:the aromatic radical Ar is selected from the group consisting of: ##STR00002## wherein in the aromatic radicals A and B the following applies:R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are selected independently of one another from the group consisting of H, OH, OCH.sub.3, OCH.sub.2CH.sub.3, OCH(CH.sub.3).sub.2, COOCH.sub.3, COOCH.sub.2CH.sub.3, COOCH(CH.sub.3).sub.2,or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are adjacent and jointly form an OCH.sub.2O group,and wherein in the aromatic radical C the following applies:X is O or Sas a flavoring substance or flavoring substance mixture.
