The illumination device is configured to illuminate the display panel by transmitting the light emitted from the plurality of light sources through the display panel. The chromaticity of a display screen of the display panel is adjusted to a predetermined chromaticity by changing the time for which each of the plurality of light sources is turned on within a time period of one frame.
