The present invention relates to an azo compound represented by the
following formula (1)

(wherein, each of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represents a hydrogen
atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a carboxy group, a sulfo group, a
sulfamoyl group, an N-alkylaminosulfonyl group, an N-phenylaminosulfonyl
group and the like; each of R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7
and R.sup.8 independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a
hydroxy group, a cyano group, a carboxy group, a sulfo group, a sulfamoyl
group, an N-alkylaminosulfonyl group, an N-phenylaminosulfonyl group and
the like; and n represents 0 or 1, respectively)or a salt thereof, an ink
composition containing the same, a recording method and a colored
article; the ink composition containing said azo compound has superior
storage stability for a long period of time; and articles recorded with
said ink composition has superior light fastness and ozone gas fastness.
