An interactive television application allows a viewer to track the
progress of participants (110) along a course (100) in a sports event.
The location of the participants is tracked, such as by using a GPS
device (160). Data is provided to the application to provide an on-screen
display (310) of a graphic (700) that shows the distances of different
points along the course and the locations of the participants. The
graphic is updated to show changes in the locations. Information
regarding the course, such as difficulty (500) elevation (500, 600, 700)
and weather conditions (700) can also be displayed on-screen. The viewer
may also select participants to follow, such that other participants are
filtered out. Furthermore, different camera feeds (120, 150) are
associated with the participants such that the viewer can elect to view
the camera feed of a selected participant.
