In an organic EL device, a hole injection electrode (anode) made of a
transparent electrode. A first hole injection layer made of CuPc, a
second hole injection layer made of CFx, a hole transport layer and
alight emitting layer each made of an organic material are formed in this
order on the hole injection electrode. An electron injection electrode
(cathode) is further formed on the light emitting layer. The first hole
injection layer made of CuPc absorbs ultraviolet light, so that the
organic EL device can be prevented from deterioration by the ultraviolet
light. The second hole injection layer made of CFx promotes injection of
holes, so that the initial drive voltage can be reduced.
