The invention concerns therapeutic uses of compounds of general formula (I), wherein n, X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3, X.sub.4, Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2, Z.sub.3, Z.sub.4, Z.sub.5 and W are as defined herein. ##STR00001## Said compounds are ligands of the TRPV.sub.1 vanilloid receptor, and are therefore, useful for treating diseases associated with TRPV.sub.1 receptors, such as pain and inflammation among others as disclosed and specifically claimed.
