An organic electroluminescent device having a pair of electrodes, at least
one organic layer between the pair of electrodes, the one organic layer
including a light-emitting layer, wherein the one organic layer contains
a compound represented by formula (I): ##STR00001## wherein Q.sub.1
represents an atomic group necessary for forming an unsaturated ring
together with the carbon atom, Q.sub.2 and Q.sub.3 each independently
represents an atomic group necessary for forming an unsaturated ring
together with the nitrogen atom, the atomic group of each of Q.sub.1,
Q.sub.2 and Q.sub.3 may have a hydrogen atom or a substituent, L.sub.1
and L.sub.2 each independently represents a linking group which may have
a substituent, n represents 0 or 1, and A.sub.1 represents a structure
containing an atom bonded to the platinum atom.
