A vehicle control system for automotive vehicles which is designed to
optimize an output torque of a power train at all times. A power train
control unit determines an allowable torque range within which the power
train is allowed to output torque and provides it to a manager control
unit. The manager control unit determines a target output torque of the
power train based on an operating maneuver of a vehicle driver. When the
target output torque is out of the allowable torque range, the manager
control unit corrects it to lie within the allowable torque range,
thereby optimizing an output of the power train.
