A liquid crystal composition with a negative dielectric anisotropy includes at least one compound selected from the group of compounds represented by the following formula (1) as a first component, and at least one compound selected from the group of compounds represented by the following formulas (2-1) to (2-3) and (3-1) to (3-4) as a second component. ##STR00001##
