The codation module may include a turbo encoder to produce a first turbo-encoded data block, and a channel interleaver may split the first turbo-encoded data block into a first plurality of turbo-encoded data bursts and to interleave the first plurality of turbo-encoded data bursts for individual transmission on a plurality of tonal carriers. The tonal carriers may correspond to independent GERAN frequency channels.
