The polarizing plate according to an aspect of the invention includes: a polarizing film; and a first protection layer that has a predetermined first optical axis, wherein the first protection layer is disposed either directly or indirectly on one surface of the polarizing film with the first optical axis of the first protection layer being aligned in parallel with a transmission axis of the polarizing film.
