The processing platform includes a gaming processing subsystem for controlling functional aspects of gaming machine operation and a general computing subsystem for controlling non-functional aspects of gaming machine operation. The gaming processing subsystem and the general computing subsystem are physically separate from one another and are coupled to a bus included within the processing platform.
