An actuator is longitudinally aligned along a side of the vehicle body in
the fore and aft direction of the vehicle, and a lower and upper links
connected to the actuator is widely opened and lift the hood, thereby
minimizing the occupancy of the actuator and linkage, and preventing
interference with adjacent components without changing the structure of
the vehicle body. Moreover, the hood is lifted high enough for pedestrian
safety using a relatively short stroke of the actuator, contributing to a
formation of a compact structure as a whole and a prevention of the
weight increase of the vehicle.
