The image pickup device includes an exposure control device capable of being selectively set in one of an automatic mode and a manual mode, and an operating member for starting processing and storage of an image signal. In this image pickup device, to achieve the above-mentioned effect, an image obtained in the automatic mode is displayed immediately before the operation of the operating member even in a case where photographing is performed in the manual mode.
