The organometallic complex has formula (I) ##STR00001## , wherein M is a transition metal with an atomic number greater than 40 comprising Ir, Os, Pt, Pd, Re, or Ru, ##STR00002## is a substituted or non-substituted heterocyclic ring containing at least one nitrogen atom, and ##STR00003## is any bidentate ligand comprising bipyridyl groups. The invention also provides an organic light-emitting diode and a display including the organometallic complex.
