`John 316` is a distinctive variety of Dianella caerulea, which is
characterized by the combination of its tall plant height, an absence of
canes, strong leaf surface glaucosity creating a blue-green foliage
appearance, violet blue flowers, long inflorescence length positioning
the flowers above the foliage and a red basal sheath zone. `John 316` is
also less prone to falling over than the parent type.
