The invention concerns more particularly a method of determining a configuration profile for an electronic document processing peripheral with the configuration profile representing a set of parameters defining a particular configuration of the peripheral. To do so, the electronic document processing peripheral determines user characteristics as a function of a user identification of a data item and then determines, as a function of the user characteristics, a configuration profile applicable for configuring the peripheral.
