A passive radiator has an arcuate contour that follows the contour of a
surface where the passive radiator can be mounted. The component may be
for example a television set, audio component, high fidelity loudspeaker,
home theatre loudspeaker, or subwoofer. The arcuate contour of the
passive radiator may be convex, parabolic, hyperbolic, or a combination
thereof. Furthermore, the contour of the surface may be cylindrical,
spherical or another contour depending on the surface contour of the
enclosure where it is mounted. The passive radiator rim shape may be
circular, rounded, rectangular, ovular, elliptical or any other suitable
shape. A contoured passive radiator of relatively large size can be
mounted on a relatively small TV set to produce a better bass sound.
