The present invention is directed to the use of an improved hydrocarbon
adsorbent coating for the treatment of evaporative emissions from a motor
vehicle. More specifically, one or more hydrocarbon adsorbents, in
accordance with the present invention, can be coated to any surface area
of an air intake system to trap hydrocarbon vapors before they can escape
to the atmosphere, through said air intake system. In another embodiment,
one or more hydrocarbon adsorbents can be incorporated in the air filter
of an air intake system.
