A system is disclosed for monitoring, recording and analysis of exercise
in an exercise machine of the type which uses a cable, having a proximal
end and a distal end, and a device, such as a handle, that enables a user
to push or pull the proximal end of the cable against a resistance that
is coupled to the distal end of the cable. A sensor or "load cell"
mounted on the frame structure of the machine, for producing an
electronic signal representing the instantaneous tensile force in the
cable, and an electronic computer or the like, coupled to receive the
electronic signal, for storing values representing the tensile force in
the cable as a function of time.
