The present invention provides a device comprising a plastically deformable or elastically deformable core component embedded within a pad, sheet or drape. In addition, the present invention further provides methods for the hands-free retraction of organs and tissues during surgical and dental procedures and for the protection of organs and tissues during such procedures.
