An explosive device includes a firing train, an explosive charge and a
shock activated neutralizer configured to disable activation of the
explosive charge by the firing train. The neutralizer includes a housing
and a rupturable fluid barrier configured to selectively permit mixing of
disabling material constituents to interact with the firing train to
disable the same. A method of neutralizing an explosive device includes
rupturing the fluid barrier, at least in part by applying a shock to the
explosive device, and interacting the disabling material with the firing
train to disable the same.
