The present invention provides a substituted anilide derivative of formula

these formulas, A is C.sub.1-C.sub.6 alkylene, C.sub.2-C.sub.6
alkenylene, etc., R.sup.1 is H, halogen, --C(R.sup.5).dbd.NOR.sup.6,
(substituted) phenyl, (substituted) heterocyclic ring, -A.sup.1-R.sup.7,
etc.; R.sup.2 is H, C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl, etc.), R.sup.3 is H,
C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl, etc.; R.sup.4 is H, F, fluoro C.sub.1-C.sub.6
alkyl; Rf is F, fluoro C.sub.1-C.sub.6 alkyl; 1 is 0 to 2; Y is halogen,
(substituted) phenyl, (substituted) phenoxy, etc.; and m is 0 to 3}, an
intermediate thereof, an agrohorticultural agent, and a method for the
use thereof. The compound of the present invention exhibits, at a low
dosage, high uptake and translocation from the root and an excellent
insecticidal effect especially when applied to soil.
