A liquid-impregnated shaped foam article consisting of a) from 1 to 10% by volume of an open-cell foam based on an aminoplast and b) from 90 to 99% by volume of a component which is liquid at 25.degree. C., such as aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, water or aqueous dispersions, and the uses thereof for transporting or metering liquids, for cleavage through freezing, for energy absorption of projectiles or as latent heat stores.
