Genetic markers for identifying bovine carriers of dwarfism in cattle,
particularly Angus cattle is described. The genetic markers, including
the microsatellite markers BMS4311 and AFR227 and the bovine PRKG2,
BMP2K, BMP3, FGF5 genes, are located on bovine chromosome BTA6. One SNP,
a polymorphism is located in the protein kinase domain within exon 15 of
the bovine PRKG2 gene and is identified as being causative and diagnostic
for dwarfism.
