Disclosed are compounds of formula (1a), wherein R.sub.1 is N.sup.+R.sub.8R.sub.9; R.sub.8 and/or R.sub.9 independently from each other are hydrogen; C.sub.1-C.sub.12alkyl; or phenyl-C.sub.1-C.sub.4-alkyl; or R.sub.8 and/or R.sub.9 are a bivalent C.sub.3-C.sub.6alkylene radical which is linked to the carbon atoms C.sup.1 or C.sup.2 respectively and, together with the linking nitrogen atom form a 6 to 16-membered carbocyclic ring; R.sub.2 is NR.sub.10R.sub.11; or OR.sub.10; R.sub.10 and R.sub.11, independently from each other are hydrogen; C.sub.1-C.sub.12alkyl; or phenyl-C.sub.1-C.sub.4alkyl; or R.sub.10 and/or R.sub.11 are a bivalent C.sub.3-C.sub.6alkylene radical which is linked to the carbon atoms C.sup.3 or C.sup.4 respectively and, together with the linking nitrogen or oxygen atom form a 6 to 16-membered carbocyclic ring; or R.sub.10 and R.sub.11 together with the linking nitrogen atom form a 4 to 8 membered carbocyclic ring; R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 independently form each other are hydrogen; C.sub.1-C.sub.12alkyl; halogen; NR.sub.12R.sub.13; or a radical of formula (1a); R.sub.12 and R.sub.13 independently from each other are hydrogen; C.sub.1-C.sub.12alkyl; phenyl-C.sub.1-C.sub.4alkyl; or a radical of formula (1a.sub.2); V is --O--; Or --NR.sub.15; R.sub.14, R.sub.15 R-.sub.16 and R.sub.17 independently from each other are hydrogen; or C.sub.1-C.sub.5alkyl; and Hal is a halogen atom; and wherein at least one of R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 is hydrogen. The compounds are useful for dyeing of keratin-containing fibers with or without reducing agents. ##STR00001##
