A curable composition for dental use, containing a polymerizable monomer,
inorganic particles (A) having irregular shapes and an average particle
size of from 1.0 to 5.0 .mu.m, wherein the inorganic particles (A) are
surface-treated with a silane coupling agent (a) represented by the
formula (I):
##STR00001##
wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R.sup.2 is a
hydrolyzable group, R.sup.3 is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon
atoms, X is an oxygen or sulfur atom, p is 2 or 3, and q is an integer of
from 8 to 13, and inorganic particles (B) having irregular shapes and/or
spherical or nearly spherical shapes, and an average particle size of
from 0.01 to 0.10 .mu.m, wherein the inorganic particles (B) are
surface-treated with a silane coupling agent (b) represented in the same
manner as in the silane coupling agent (a) except that q in the formula
(I) is an integer of from 1 to 6, wherein the inorganic particles (A) and
the inorganic particles (B) are contained in amounts of from 85 to 98% by
weight and from 2 to 15% by weight, respectively, of the entire amount of
the inorganic particles. The curable composition for dental use of the
present invention can be suitably used as a material capable of
substituting a part or all of a natural tooth in the field of dental
therapy.
