This invention provides methods of using Rhenium radioisotopes to detect and treat tumors that express a Na.sup.+/I.sup.- symporter. The invention also provides compositions and methods of making compositions comprising Rhenium radioisotopes for detection and treatment of tumors that express a Na.sup.+/I.sup.- symporter.
