A liquid crystalline di(meth)acrylate compound represented by the following formula (III): ##STR00001## wherein, in the formula (III), R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent each independently a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 represent each independently an alkylene group of a carbon number of 2 to 12, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 represent each independently --O--CO-- or --CO--O--, A.sup.1 and A.sup.2 represent each independently --O-- or --O--CO--O--, and X represents an aromatic substituent.
