A transverse-electromagnetic (TEM) radio-frequency(RF) coil array (100)
for examining a subject in a magnetic resonance system is disclosed,
wherein the TEM RF coil array comprises two or more parallel loop
elements (101a, 102a) configured to transmit RF signals independently to
the subject (103). The two or more parallel loop elements are arranged to
intersect at a point at one end of the loop elements, thereby forming a
cylindrical coil array closed at one end and open at the other.
