A compound of formula (I); its structure represented with dotted lines
being either cis- or trans-double bonds wherein: A) R.sub.1 represents a
hydrogen atom and R.sub.2 represents an OH, OCH.sub.3 or OC.sub.2H.sub.5
group while either a) R.sub.4, R.sub.5, and R.sub.7 each represent
hydrogen atoms with R.sub.3, R.sub.6, and R.sub.8 each representing
methyl radicals; b) R.sub.4, R.sub.6, and R.sub.7 each represent hydrogen
atoms with R.sub.3, R.sub.5, and R.sub.8 each representing methyl
radicals; or c) R.sub.3, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 each represent hydrogen
atoms with R.sub.4, R.sub.5, and R.sub.8, each representing methyl
radicals; or B) R.sub.7 represents a hydrogen atom; R.sub.1, R.sub.4, and
R.sub.6 each represent hydrogen atoms with R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.5
each representing a methyl radical while R.sub.8 represents OH, OCH.sub.3
or OC.sub.2H.sub.5 groups when dotted lines are present; when dotted
lines are absent, R.sub.8 represents either OCH.sub.3 or OC.sub.2H.sub.5
groups. At least one compound is applied as an odorant agent.
