Grain oriented electrical steel is made in a manner that the grains are
selectively grown to obtain a crystal structure known as cube-on-edge and
the grains are largely aligned in the rolling direction. Selection of
chemistry and process route along with thin slab continuous casting
enables the production of Grain oriented electrical steel such that less
energy is consumed in the process, certain process steps can be combined,
yield is better and the product can be manufactured within a wider
process control tolerance.
