A disengageable surfboard that starts out as a long, paddle-sized board
that a surfer uses, either in the standard prone position or standing
with a paddle, to enter the surf. Once the surfer has used the board to
catch a wave, he or she quickly releases the back portion of the board,
typically made of a soft foam, through a quick move of his or her foot,
leaving the surfer with a smaller, higher performance surfboard that
would have been initially difficult for the surfer to catch without the
extra length afforded through the disengaged piece.
