Recombinant DNA molecules and hosts transformed with them which produce polypeptides displaying HBV anti-genicity and genes coding therefor and methods of making and using these molecules, hosts, genes and polypeptides. The recombinant DNA molecules of this invention are characterized by structural genes that code for at least one polypeptide displaying HBV antigenicity. In appropriate hosts these recombinant DNA molecules permit the production and identification of genes and polypeptides characteristic of HBV antigenicity and their use in compositions and methods for detecting HBV virus infections in humans and stimulating the production of antibodies against this infection.

Molecole recombinant ed ospiti del DNA trasformati con loro quale polipeptidi dei prodotti che visualizzano antigenicità ed i geni di HBV che codificano per questo e metodi di fabbricazione ed usando le questi molecole, ospiti, geni e polipeptidi. Le molecole recombinant del DNA di questa invenzione sono caratterizzate dai geni strutturali che codificano per almeno un polipeptide che visualizza l'antigenicità di HBV. In ospiti adatti queste molecole recombinant del DNA consentono la produzione e l'identificazione dei geni e polipeptidi caratteristici di antigenicità di HBV ed il loro uso nelle composizioni e nei metodi per la rilevazione delle infezioni del virus di HBV in esseri umani e la stimolazione della produzione degli anticorpi contro questa infezione.
