A process for separating at least one C.sub.8 alkylaromatic hydrocarbon from a mixture containing at least one C.sub.8 alkylaromatic hydrocarbon and at least one C.sub.9 or C.sub.10 alkylaromatic hydrocarbon using zeolite Y or zeolite Y ion exchanged with a metal selected from the group consisting of calcium, sodium, strontium, a Group IB element, a Group VIII element and mixtures thereof.

Ein Prozeß für das Trennen an wenigem alkylaromatic Kohlenwasserstoff ein C.sub.8 von einer Mischung, die an wenigem alkylaromatic Kohlenwasserstoff ein C.sub.8 und an wenigem einem alkylaromatic Kohlenwasserstoff C.sub.9 oder C.sub.10 mit dem Ion des Zeoliths Y oder des Zeoliths Y ausgetauscht mit einem Metall vorgewählt von der Gruppe besteht aus Kalzium, Natrium, Strontium, einem Gruppe IB Element, einem Gruppe VIII Element und Mischungen davon enthält.
