A disposable hand piece providing irrigation and aspiration capability to a surgical field can adaptably hold within itself endoscopes of different manufacturers. Running through the hand piece is a bore; attached at the distal end of the hand piece is a reusable sheath. The tubular shaft of an endoscope is inserted into the bore of the hand piece and the reusable sheath. A first collet at the proximal side of the hand piece securely holds the endoscope by adjusting to the outer diameter of the tubular shaft of the endoscope. A second collet at the distal side of the hand piece holds the reusable sheath in a selected linear extension. The collets, however, permit the tubular shaft and the reusable sheath to be rotated in place and thus adjust the view of the surgical field. An annular space is maintained between the tubular shaft and the reusable sheath so as to provide a channel for irrigation and aspiration. Further aspiration capability is provided by a separate suction device. A method of attaching an endoscope and sheath to the hand piece and using the apparatus is also disclosed.

Een beschikbaar handstuk dat irrigatie en aspiratievermogen verstrekt aan een chirurgisch gebied kan binnen zich endoscopen van verschillende fabrikanten adaptably houden. Doornemen het handstuk is droeg; in bijlage op het distale eind van hand is het stuk een opnieuw te gebruiken schede. De tubulaire schacht van een endoscoop wordt opgenomen in droeg van het handstuk en de opnieuw te gebruiken schede. Een eerste ring aan de proximale kant van het handstuk houdt veilig de endoscoop door aan de buitendiameter van de tubulaire schacht van de endoscoop aan te passen. Een tweede ring aan de distale kant van het handstuk houdt de opnieuw te gebruiken schede in een geselecteerde lineaire uitbreiding. De ringen, echter, laten de tubulaire schacht en de opnieuw te gebruiken schede toe om op zijn plaats worden geroteerd en zo de mening van het chirurgische gebied aan te passen. Een ringvormige ruimte wordt gehandhaafd tussen de tubulaire schacht en de opnieuw te gebruiken schede om een kanaal voor irrigatie en aspiratie te verstrekken. Het verdere aspiratievermogen wordt verstrekt door een afzonderlijk zuigingsapparaat. Een methode om een endoscoop en een schede vast te maken aan het handstuk en de apparaten wordt te gebruiken ook onthuld.
