A process for the carbonylation of alkyl aromatic compounds uses acidic ionic liquids. In one embodiment, the ionic liquid is intrinsically acidic, having an anion mole fraction of greater than 0.5. The ionic liquids include those comprised of a quaternary nitrogen-containing cation and a metal halide anion. The process provides for good conversion and selectivity in the production of the corresponding aromatic aldehyde compound.

Ein Prozeß für das carbonylation der aromatischen Alkylmittel benutzt säurehaltige Ionenflüssigkeiten. In einer Verkörperung ist die Ionenflüssigkeit tatsächlich säurehaltig und hat einen Anion Molebruch von grösser als 0.5. Die Ionenflüssigkeiten schließen die mit ein, die von einem quaternären nitrogenhaltigen Kation und von einem Metallhalogenidanion enthalten werden. Der Prozeß stellt für gute Umwandlung und Selektivität in der Produktion des entsprechenden aromatischen Aldehydemittels zur Verfügung.
