The present invention relates to a method to measure in vivo the effect of a drug on the function of the nerve cells of the brain of a patient suffering from a neurological disease, which comprises the steps of: a) measuring NAA signal intensity using MRS of the brain of the patient; b) subjecting the patient to a treatment with the drug to be tested and measuring NAA signal intensity using MRS of the brain of the patient; and c) comparing the spectra of steps a) and b) to determine whether the drug has an effect on the function of the nerve cells of the brain; whereby the increase in the NAA signal of step b) is indicative of a drug with a positive effect.

La presente invenzione riguarda un metodo alla misura in vivo l'effetto di una droga sulla funzione delle cellule del nervo del cervello di un paziente che soffre da una malattia neurologica, di cui contiene i punti: a) misurare intensità del segnale di NAA usando SIG.RA del cervello del paziente; b) sottoponendo il paziente ad un trattamento con la droga intensità del segnale di NAA misurare e da esaminare usando SIG.RA del cervello del paziente; e c) confrontando le gamme di punti a) e b) per determinare se la droga abbia un effetto sulla funzione delle cellule del nervo del cervello; per cui l'aumento nel segnale di NAA del punto b) è indicativo di una droga con un positivo effettui.
