A character inputting method for a handy phone or similar terminal unit uses a first and a second button capable of being pressed or shifted independently of each other. The user of the terminal unit operates the first button and/or second button to scroll characters appearing on a display either in the forward direction or in the backward direction, selects desired one of the characters, and fixes it. When the user presses the two buttons at the same, the existing one of the vertical and horizontal scroll directions is replaced with the other direction. The user selects the desired character by the forward or backward scroll and then shifts the first or the second button to fix the character. A device for practicing the character inputting method is also disclosed.

Un metodo di input del carattere per un telefono pratico o un'unità terminale simile utilizza un primo e secondo tasto capace di pressione o spostato indipendentemente da a vicenda. L'utente dell'unità terminale fa funzionare il primo tasto e/o il secondo tasto per arrotolare i caratteri che compaiono su un'esposizione nel senso di andata o nel senso a rovescio, seleziona quello voluto dei caratteri e lo ripara. Quando l'utente preme i due tasti allo stesso, quello esistente dei sensi verticali ed orizzontali del rotolo è sostituito con l'altro senso. L'utente seleziona il carattere voluto dal rotolo di andata o a rovescio ed allora sposta il primo o secondo tasto per riparare il carattere. Un dispositivo per esercitarsi nel metodo di input del carattere inoltre è rilevato.
