A class of substituted phenylacetonitrile-alkylaminoalkyl-ortho-substituted aryl compounds having immunosuppressive properties is described. Compounds of this class would be useful in reducing recipient rejection of transplanted organs and for treatment of autoimmune or inflammatory diseases. Compounds of particular interest are of the formula ##STR1## wherein m is one or two; wherein n is a number selected from one to five, inclusive; wherein R.sup.1 is selected from hydrido, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkenyl and alkynyl; wherein R.sup.6 is selected from loweralkyl; wherein each of R.sup.8, R.sup.9, R.sup.10 and R.sup.12 through R.sup.16 is independently selected from hydrido, hydroxy, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonylalkenyl, alkylaminocarbonyl and alkoxyalkyl; with the proviso that at least one of R.sup.12 and R.sup.16 must be selected from hydroxy, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonylalkenyl, alkylaminocarbonyl and alkoxyalkyl; or a tautomer thereof or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof.

Una clase de los compuestos aryl phenylacetonitrile-alkylaminoalkyl-ortho-substituidos substituidos que tienen características inmunosupresivas se describe. Los compuestos de esta clase serían útiles en la reducción del rechazamiento receptor de órganos trasplantados y para el tratamiento de enfermedades autoinmunes o inflamatorias. Los compuestos del interés particular son del ## del ## STR1 del fórmula en donde m es uno o dos; en donde n es un número seleccionado a partir del uno a cinco, inclusivo; en donde R.sup.1 se selecciona de hydrido, del alkyl, de hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkenyl y alkynyl; en donde R.sup.6 se selecciona de loweralkyl; en donde cada uno de R.sup.8, de R.sup.9, de R.sup.10 y de R.sup.12 con R.sup.16 se selecciona independientemente de hydrido, hydroxy, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, de alkynyl, de alkylcarbonyl, de alkoxycarbonyl, de alkylcarbonylalkenyl, de alkylaminocarbonyl y de alkoxyalkyl; a condición de que por lo menos uno de R.sup.12 y de R.sup.16 se deba seleccionar de hydroxy, de alkyl, de hydroxyalkyl, de alkoxy, de alkenyl, alkynyl, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylcarbonylalkenyl, alkylaminocarbonyl y alkoxyalkyl; o un tautomer de eso o una sal pharmaceutically-acceptable de eso.
