There is disclosed a method of treating ill effects of alcohol consumption in a person in need of such treatment, which comprises enhancing the effectiveness of the person's immune system by the administration to such person of at least one aliphatic sulfur compound preferably a sulfur-containing amino-acid derivative having the formula (I) ##STR1## in which A is hydrogen or a carboxymethylene --CH.sub.2 CO.sub.2 H group, B is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and X is hydrogen, or an acyl group --CO--R in which R is an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of such compound.

On révèle une méthode de traiter de mauvais effets de consommation d'alcool chez une personne nécessitant un tel traitement, qui comporte augmenter l'efficacité du système immunitaire de la personne par l'administration à une telle personne au moins d'un composé de soufre aliphatique de préférence un dérivé contenant du soufre d'acide aminé ayant le ## du ## STR1 de la formule (i) dans lequel A est hydrogène ou un carboxymethylene -- groupe de CH.sub.2 CO.sub.2 H, B est hydrogène ou un groupe alcoyle ayant 1 à 3 atomes de carbone, et X est hydrogène, ou un groupe d'acyle -- Co -- r dans lequel R est un groupe alcoyle ayant 1 à 3 atomes de carbone, ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable d'un tel composé.
