The present invention relates to a process for the manufacture of compounds of Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is alkyl; R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are, independently, hydrogen, alkyl or alkenyl; X is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or alkoxy; and the dotted bond is an optional bond. The present invention also relates to novel light screening compositions containing certain of the compounds of Formula (I) and to certain novel compounds of Formula (I), as well as other novel 2-substituted phenyl-benzotriazole compounds.

Die anwesende Erfindung bezieht auf einem Prozeß für die Herstellung der Mittel von Formel (i): ## STR1 ## worin R.sup.1 Alkyl ist; R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 und R.sup.6 sind, unabhängig, Wasserstoff, Alkyl oder Alkenyl; X ist Wasserstoff, Halogen, Alkyl- oder alkoxy; und die punktierte Bindung ist eine kündbare Obligation. Die anwesende Erfindung bezieht auch auf dem Romanlichtsiebung-Aufbauenthalten sicher der Mittel von Formel (i) und auf bestimmten Romanmitteln von Formel (i), sowie andere Roman 2-substituted Phenyl-Phenyl-benzotriazolemittel.
