Pyrrolidine compounds of Formula I: ##STR1## (wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, R.sup.8a, R.sup.8b, j, k, 1, m, and n are defined herein) are described. The compounds are modulators of CCR5 chemokine receptor activity. The compounds are useful, for example, in the prevention or treatment of infection by HIV and the treatment of AIDS, as compounds or pharmaceutically acceptable salts, or as ingredients in pharmaceutical compositions, optionally in combination with other antivirals, immunomodulators, antibiotics or vaccines. Methods of treating AIDS and methods of preventing or treating infection by HIV are also described.

Residui della pirrolidina della formula I: ## del ## STR1 (in cui R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6, R.sup.7, R.sup.8a, R.sup.8b, J, K, 1, la m. e la n sono definiti qui) sono descritti. I residui sono modulatori di attività del ricevitore di chemokine CCR5. I residui sono utili, per esempio, nella prevenzione o nel trattamento dell'infezione da HIV e nel trattamento del AIDS, come i residui o farmaceuticamente sali accettabili, o come ingredienti in composizioni farmaceutiche, facoltativamente congiuntamente ad altri antivirals, immunomodulators, antibiotici o vaccini.
