A limulus test-positive plant glycolipid having the following properties: molecular weight: 8000 .+-.1000 by SDS electrophoresis, number of phosphorous not less than 1/mol; number of hexosamine 6 .+-.2/mol; number of fatty acids 6 .+-.2/mol is effective in the stimulation of osteogenesis, oviposition and shell strength improvement in animals. The glycolipid may be administered as a composition comprising an effective amount of the glycolipid in admixture with a pharmaceutically or veterinarily acceptable carrier, such that when administered to an animal, the immune system of the animal is favorably stimulated.

Un glycolipide essai-positif d'usine de limulus ayant les propriétés suivantes : poids moléculaire : +-.1000 8000 par l'électrophorèse de SDS, nombre de phosphoreux pas moins que 1/mol ; nombre de +-.2/mol de l'hexosamine 6 ; le nombre de +-.2/mol des acides gras 6 est efficace dans la stimulation de l'amélioration de résistance à osteogenesis, à oviposition et à coquille chez les animaux. Le glycolipide peut être administré comme composition comportant une quantité efficace du glycolipide en admixtion avec pharmaceutiquement ou porteur veterinarily acceptable, tel qu'une fois administré à un animal, le système immunitaire de l'animal est favorablement stimulé.
