This invention relates to a series of arylsubstituted piperazines, of Formula I ##STR1## pharmaceutical compositions containing them and intermediates used in their manufacture. The compounds of the invention selectively inhibit binding to the .alpha.-1a adrenergic receptor, a receptor which has been implicated in benign prostatic hyperplasia. As such the compounds are potentially useful in the treatment of this and other disease.

Questa invenzione riguarda una serie di arylsubstituted le piperazine, delle composizioni farmaceutiche del ## del ## STR1 di formula I che le contengono e degli intermediari usati nella loro fabbricazione. I residui dell'invenzione inibiscono selettivamente il grippaggio al ricevitore adrenergico del alpha.-1a, un ricevitore che è stato implicato in iperplasia prostatic benigna. Poichè tali i residui sono potenzialmente utili nel trattamento questo e dell'altra malattia.
