The present invention relates to substituted aniline compounds of the formula 1 ##STR1## in which R.sup.21, R.sup.22 and R.sup.23 have the meanings indicated in the description. The compounds according to the invention are intermediates for the preparation of herbicidally active pyridinedicarboxamide compounds.
