Methods for evaluating the risk of an individual to develop Alzheimer's
disease using cultured neural crest-derived melanocytes are described.
Also described are methods of therapy for Alzheimer's disease using
peptides that bind to the neurotrophin receptor (p75.sup.NTR) and
competitively inhibit the binding of .beta.-amyloid to the p75.sup.NTR.
De methodes om het risico van een individu worden te evalueren om de ziekte die van Alzheimer te ontwikkelen beschaafde kam-afgeleid neuraal gebruikt melanocytes beschreven. Ook beschreven worden de methodes van therapie voor de ziekte van Alzheimer gebruikend peptides die aan de neurotrophinreceptor (p75.sup.NTR) binden en concurrerend de band van beta.-amyloid aan p75.sup.NTR verbieden.
