The invention relates to a process for the preparation of anhydrous or
substantially anhydrous formic acid. The process has the special feature
that a liquid of the general formula I

where the radicals R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or
aralkyl groups, or R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 jointly, together with the N atom,
form a heterocyclic 5- or 6-membered ring, and only one of the radicals is
an aryl group, and where R.sup.3 is hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl
group, employed as extractant is also employed as washing liquid for the
offgases produced in the process.
Die Erfindung bezieht auf einem Prozeß für die Vorbereitung der wasserfreien oder im wesentlichen wasserfreien Ameisensäure. Der Prozeß hat die spezielle Eigenschaft, der eine Flüssigkeit des allgemeinen Formel I ## STR1 ##, in dem die Radikale R.sup.1 und R.sup.2 Alkyl sind, des cycloalkyl, der Aryl- oder aralkyl Gruppen oder des R.sup.1 und des R.sup.2 gemeinsam, zusammen mit dem N Atom, heterozyklischen 5 oder einen Ring 6-membered bilden und nur eins der Radikale eine Aryl- Gruppe ist, und wo R.sup.3 Wasserstoff oder ein C.sub.1 - C.sub.4 - Alkylgruppe ist, beschäftigt, wie Extraktionsmittel auch als waschende Flüssigkeit für die offgases eingesetzt wird, die im Prozeß produziert werden.
