In accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present invention, a
cogeneration facility combined with means for producing CO.sub.2 includes
an internal combustion engine that drives an electrical generator, a waste
heat recovery unit through which hot exhaust gases from the engine are
passed to recover thermal energy in usable form, and means for conveying
exhaust gases coming out of the waste heat recovery unit to a CO.sub.2
recovery unit where the CO.sub.2 is extracted and made available as a
saleable byproduct.
In conformità con un metodo di realizzazione illustrativo di presente invenzione, una funzione di cogenerazione unita con i mezzi per produrre CO.sub.2 include un motore a combustione interna che guida un generatore elettrico, un'unità di recupero di cascami di calore attraverso cui i gas di scarico caldi dal motore sono passati per recuperare l'energia termica nella forma utilizzabile e significa per il trasporto dei gas di scarico che escono dall'unità di recupero di cascami di calore ad un'unità di recupero CO.sub.2 in cui il CO.sub.2 è estratto e reso disponibile come sottoprodotto vendibile.
