This invention relates to a gene encoding human secretory type
phospholipase A.sub.2 (PLA.sub.2). According to the invention, an
expression vector having this gene, and a transformant having the
expression vector are obtainable. The PLA.sub.2 protein can be produced by
the culture of the transformant.
